Leveraging on its extensive traditional manufacturing experience, the NASDAQ-listed company is offering the most comprehensive additive manufacturing services available commercially in terms of technology, materials available and number of printers.

The facility, UCT Additive Manufacturing Center Pte. Ltd. will provide a full scale of 3D printing services which include Prototyping, Part Optimization, 3D Engineering Services, Consumer Parts Production and Virtual Warehousing.

3D printing enables designers to produce prototypes for parts in a matter of days, dramatically reducing cost, increasing productivity and opening opportunities for smaller companies to participate. It also revolutionizes traditional supply chains , enabling parts to be digitally stored and manufactured on demand, replacing the current approach of storing thousands of physical parts in warehouses at a cost of millions “UCT aims to continue to expand our 3D printing offering, develop differentiating Intellectual Property and be a significant player in turning Singapore towards becoming a 3D printing powerhouse,” said Lavi Lev, Senior Vice President, Asia Division at UCT. “Combining our extensive experience in the many industrial markets we traditionally serve and the First Mover knowledge we get through the new markets that open to us by using 3D printing we are well positioned to be the leader in this area”.

UCT greatly benefited from the availability of highly educated and qualified personnel, enabled through the government support for the 3D printing industry in the country. Its staff of PhD experts, Engineers, technicians, marketing and business development personnel are graduates of local education system making Singapore an ideal location for UCT 3D SEA base.

UCT was also recognized by the world’s leading 3D printing company Materialise and was awarded an exclusive franchise rights in SEA for it B2C platform i.materialise (i.materialise.com.sg) i.materialise is a portal that enables designers to print and sell their 3D-printed products. Currently, i.materialise.com.sg has an active community of designers from all parts of the world selling a wide variety of printed products. End consumers can find bespoke 3D printed lifestyle products such as decorative items, fashion accessories and jewelry, place an online order that is printed by UCT in Singapore and then shipped to any location in the region.

This shift from mass production to mass on-demand customization will positively impact the economy in many ways. “3D printing opens the door to individuals and small companies to manufacture parts with no capital equipment investment, it allows large corporations to increase their R&D pace through rapid prototyping and it will reduce the cost of operation through the elimination of the need to store physical inventory products and replace it with on-demand 3D printing.

UCT aim to be a 3D printing powerhouse driving the third industrial revolution in Singapore, where manufacturing industry moves towards full digitization,” said Lev.
